The interior gets a minor refresh that includes a revised instrument cluster. XLT models now come with additional standard features, while the high-line XLT Premium gets a new monochrome exterior look. The Adrenalin model now features an even more powerful premium audio system. All models get a flexible fuel feature that allows them to run on ethanol-blended fuel, as well as traditional gasoline. Finally, there is no longer a manual transmission option on XLS models.

This is a fun vehicle that continues to amaze me. I own two sailboats and the short bed is just what I need without having to give up a roomy interior.

Bought in 2007; with 25,000 miles; XLT Premium. Like new. Saved a bunch. Looked at new Jeep four door, too much metal showing, and Dakota four door, noisier and more truck-like. Well pleased with this compromise design. Good looking, solid, quiet. Fits in my garage. Have added K&N air filter, removed resonator, changed to flow- through muffler. 16 mpg in suburban driving.

As a replacement for my extended cab Ranger Ive been very pleased so far with my Sport Trac. Inside its extremely comfortable and outside very functional. It really does offer the best of both worlds with the SUV interior and truck bed. I highly recommend the bed extender though for squeezing out the extra capacity from the bed.

I have owned my truck since new (2004 ST XLS with a hard Tonto cover and bed extender) I get about 18-24 MPG depending where and how I drive - I would love to had better MPG. In 135,000 miles all I have had to do is regular oil changes, air filter, liquids, tires, brakes, rotors, and replaced front ball joints (normal maintenance stuff) It has been very dependable, the power locks have stopped working but that is acceptable I may have them fixed in the future. I paid less than $18K tax and all out the door new in 2004 and I have gotten my moneys worth I plan to keep mine for another 5 years (my 8 year old grandson) wants it - not sure it will last that long, we shall see. :)

  • I love the truck in spite of its flaws - 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I owned a Ford Ranger for 13 years and it was a great truck. When I saw the review of the sport trac in Car and Driver magazine, I knew this was the truck for me. I bought my sport trac the first year they were manufactured. Its been recalled a few times for small issues - nothing that I feel compromises the safety of the vehicle. The ride isnt as quiet as I expected in the cab, but thats about the only thing I really dont like about it. I love to drive my sport trac and it meets my needs.

This is the best truck that I ever had. You can fit five passengers in it and still have room to put 4 golf bags in the back without a problem. It hace a nice stiff ride and the 4.0L V6 have got really nice pick-up. You can get a lot truck for your money. You wont be disappointed. It a great buy!
